Counseling For Struggling Families:
Does conflict end up with everyone feeling lonely and disconnected?
Was your relationship with your child close but now you don't feel closeness or trust?
Are you just starting out as a parent and afraid you're going to repeat your parent's mistakes? (Or have you been parenting for awhile and see you're making some mistakes you swore you'd never do?)
Sometimes we need to reach out for some support to succeed at the toughest job we'll ever have, which is parenting. I can help you to clarify what the trouble is in your family and give you some resources to help. I have two grown children so I know much about how aspects of our culture can feel like they are pulling your child away from you. I also know how, in the heat of the moment, we say or do things we regret but can't seem to change. There are things you can do to reconnect with your child, to develop a trusting, loving, emotionally close relationship that will last a lifetime.
Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) For Help in Your Family
If you see me for family therapy, I will focus on helping you and your child(ren) talk about the feelings that come up during conflicts, and help each person to see that each truly loves the other and does not mean to make the other feel unaccepted, unloved or unvalued. From this change in perspective, families can develop the secure attachment that enables family members to become respectful, close and supportive.
